Wii Points: You can’t earn them.

Many Wii fans, including myself, think we should be able to earn Wii Points.

For the record, right now there are only 2 ways to receive Wii Points.

You can purchase a Wii Points Card at many retailers that carry Nintendo products.
You can purchase Wii Points through the Wii Shop Channel using a credit card.

Wii Points are used to download additional features and items – including selected titles from NES, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and TurboGrafx games.

Perhaps we could earn some points by beating games or unlocking secrets? Or what about entering the serial numbers of games/systems we already own (Wii games and earlier Nintendo products) and receive points for them? It couldn’t hurt to give us a “free” preview of all the potential fun available on the Wii Shop Channel. Then people who haven’t tried the shopping channel might be more inspired to buy some points. Just a thought.

Jeez, no news because no GDC. To kill my boredom I’m forced to race Pugs in illegal drag races.

Oh well, it’ll pick up tomorrow, I’ll have a Virtual Console update. It’s all good.

Listen up Steven Spielberg

Ok, as most everyone has heard, Steven Spielberg is working on a game for the Wii. This excites me because I know a hell of a lot more about movies than I do video games. I feel like somehow I’ll have a slight advantage to the game. This seems like a huge opportunity for Nintendo to capture even more fans. I know countless video games have been based on movies, but personally when I hear the name Steven Spielberg I think, “huge blockbuster featuring hot leading man.” So if you want females to play this new game, how about giving us Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio or Matt Damon as characters. I don’t care what the game is about, just make us a virtual Leo.

And while I’m on my ‘advice to Nintendo trip’ (ha, as if they need it) – how about offering us some more Mii options. It’s obvious from all the online Mii contests and the new Mii channel, that creating Miis is very popular. It would be cool to have ears, some jewelry, and perhaps clothes other than a solid long-sleeved shirt.

I subscribed to GameFly a few days ago and my first two games should be arriving anytime. I’ll be back soon with my reviews.
