If you were disappointed by the lack of options available when making your very own Mii, you’re not alone. My Mii Manager from Datel, allows you to edit and create Mii’s on your PC.

There are new options available in My Mii Manager not found on the Wii such as: new hairstyles, hats and even clothes. All you need to do is buy the software ($19.99) and download your Mii from the Wii to your home computer. My Mii Manager also comes with a USB Bluetooth receiver which allows you to use your Wii remote with your computer. I’m not sure how the new Mii’s work when you transfer them back onto your Wii, but the idea is nice. If anyone out there has My Mii Manager or knows anything else about how it works, let us know!

Other than being hard to pronounce, Rayman Raving Rabbids is a pretty cool game. Since the game has been out for a while, I’m going to skip the usual review and break down what I liked and disliked about the game.

Likes

1) There’s a huge selection of mini games to play, ranging from really fun to really creepy (see video).

2) Many of the games within score mode are unlockable which makes the game longer and keeps it interesting.

3) You can design your own character by mixing up outfits and accessories in score mode.

4) Although I usually don’t like using the nunchuck attachment, the games where you do use it are actually fun.

5) The music is fun and the Rabbids are insane to watch and play along with.

Dislikes

1) Some of the mini games are a little too long. An example of this is in score mode, you must wait for each player to finish certain games lasting over a minute, a tad too long in multi-player mode.

2) You are unable to play against your opponents at the same time during score mode, with certain games.

On the good ship..lollipops? Nope, even better! Norwegian Cruise Lines announced that it will be the first cruise line to offer guests the pleasure of having the Nintendo Wii aboard. The cruise line has already provided the Wii on all of its NCL America ships including their latest edition, the Norwegian Pearl. By next month, all of Norwegian Cruise Lines ships will be stocked with Nintendo Wiis, giving guests a great alternative to bad comedy shows and people watching.

The Wii will be found entertaining guests in the atrium of each ship, along with other public spaces including ‘kids only’ areas. A variety of games will be available for Wii gamers such as: Wii Sports, Wii Play, Wario Ware: Smooth Moves and Excite Truck. I’m sure Norwegian Cruise lines wants their guests to interact and get to know each other in this fun filled setting, but I have another idea. Find the guy who snores through the walls next to your room and kick his butt in a not- so- friendly game of Wii tennis, sweet revenge!

I’ve decided to do a run through of which Wii accessories I find cool and somewhat useful and which are simply pointless. Let’s start with The GameStop Sports Pack, this includes sports attachments which are supposed to be helpful when playing Wii Sports, I think not. The pack includes a baseball bat, tennis racket and golf club attachment. Unless you want these accessories for looks, I would not recommend purchasing them. Yea, the pack is only like $20 or so, but its not needed. Maybe these things are made for people that want to look less Wii-tarded when swinging at the TV, ha.

One Wii accessory I do appreciate is the non-slip grips and covers. I think we all know how intense these “games” get, once a competition fires up there is no stopping the ambitious (crazy) competitor in all of us. As things heat up, so do our hands, lets face the facts. In the rare event that our Wii wrist strap fails us, or someone fails to tighten it, hello! The non-slip grip just may save your expensive TV from shattering. Not to mention, the fun colors the non-slip covers and grips are available in, very chic.

The latest edition of the Mario Party games is set to release on May 29th for the Nintendo Wii. Mario Party 8 includes six brand-new boards, and tons of new mini games including: jet skiing, shooting gallery, barrel lasso and flag raise. Choose from one of 14 characters including such classics as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Wario, Daisy, and Waluigi among others. Two of the newest character editions for Mario Party 8 are said to be Hammer Bro, first appearing in Super Mario Bros, and Blooper, the white squid with a black face we all know from the underwater levels also in Super Mario Bros.

In addition to the six new playing boards, there are also new “extra large” mini games like Star Carnival Bowling and Table Menace, different from any other game in the series. The characters talk to you through the Wii remotes, informing you when its your turn etc, this will save some time yelling at your friends who don’t pay attention. From what I’ve seen, the mini games look just as adorable and fun as the previous versions, I’m such a girl. Mario Party games are always a good choice for every game playa out there so i’m looking forward to holding my very own Mario Party in May, good times!

The Nintendo Wii is bringing joy to senior citizens everywhere. According to the associated press, retirement centers from Chicago to Virginia have become part of the Wii craze. Ruth Ebert, 82, is a resident of the Greenspring Retirement Community in Springfield, Virginia and loves playing Wii Tennis. Ruth even volunteered her one-bedroom apartment as a place to store the Wii since she owns a big screenTV- gotta love her.

In Chicago, Flora Dierbach, 72, a chairperson for the entertainment committee at her retirement community, arranged a Wii bowling tournament. Other residents including 81 year old grandfather Sim Taylor, long time bowler, now add video games to their list of hobbies, very smooth. From girls to boys, children to grandparents, the Nintendo Wii is just good fun, no joke.

Wow. Yet another version of the highly popular game has come back to get me. My obsession started with the original PC version of The Sims, then came the PS2 version, followed shortly after by Sims 2 for the PC. Of course, I didn’t mention the array of many many expansion packs available, all of which I was ‘forced’ to purchase, bringing the never ending obsession to a new level. I gained some sort of self control and decided that I would not indulge this nerdy side of me any longer and I’ve been clean for over a year…and now this.

MySims, which is said to release in Fall of this year, puts a new spin the ole Sims games. The characters you create are Mii-like rather than overly detailed as in the other versions. As always, there is a large variety of hairstyles and clothing to choose from, even more options become available as you unlock them throughout the game and expand your wardrobe- fabulous! The game also starts you out in a rundown Sim town, but as time progresses you can mold the town into your own, creating better looking houses, businesses and landscapes. You can even make your own appliances and furniture using the creativity tools provided.

Let’s hope MySims for the Nintendo Wii isn’t as ‘crack-tastic’ as the others- but I won’t hold my breath. Wiiiiiii, I’m excited!

Another game we received through GameFly this week was SSX Blur. You need to attach the nun chuck in order to play, this is used for moving and steering your character on the slopes. The analog stick is there to help do tricks and fine tune other moves. Since the only other game I have played using the nun chucks was boxing for Wii Sports, it was a little hard to get used to holding both controllers. Luckily, my first experience of SSX Blur was captured on video (pre-tutorials) so I able to play it back and see how much I sucked at maneuvering my skier, ha.

For my tips on playing SSX Blur…

First things first, before playing against anyone go to the tutorials and practice. I usually avoid this section when playing a new game; partially because I think I’ll figure it out on my own, but mainly because I’m freakin’ impatient. However, this particular game calls for a little bit of advice. Once you’ve gotten a feel for the controls and have learned a little about the tricks and jumps etc, go on to the quick play mode or race against a friend if you feel confident enough.

Now comes the fun part, showing up your opponents in the trick competition. This mode was the most fun since it allowed me to show off my news skills (thanks again, tutorials). Its important to get the icons that appear throughout the levels, (X2, X3) these will double and triple your scores. If you’re good enough you can even reach silver icons that give you ten times the points, of course, these are harder to reach but very much worth the effort. Sliding down the ramps is a good way to reach the bonus icons, but it takes some coordination to avoid falling off either side. I like to make snowballs and throw them at my competition, this is done by using the B button, it doesn’t help add to your score but it does help to annoy your friends, which is always fun to do. Watch the meter on the right of the screen, once you fill it up to the top with points, or to “Uber -Level”, you will be able to do more complicated, Uber tricks for major points, NICE.

SSX Blur is the perfect Wii game for those who appreciate skiing as well as those who are unable to ski on a regular basis, due to them living in Florida (me). Basically, if you have the chance to check this game out you should do it, do it, do it.
